Count 100 bottles in 30 minutes — by weight, not by eye

For bar managers and owners who still count open bottles by eye.

Scan the barcode, put the bottle on a Bluetooth scale, confirm. Once your catalogue is set up, that is the entire job — about 18 seconds per bottle.

See how it works Weighing is accurate to ±1–2%. Eyeballing is ±10–15%.

Sound familiar?

  • “Half a bottle” — is that 350 ml or 420 ml? Nobody in the bar agrees.
  • Two people count the same shelf and hand you two different numbers.
  • Stocktaking eats half a shift, and you still don’t trust the result.
  • You see the revenue and the invoices, but not where the difference went.

It happens for one reason: the level in an open bottle is judged by eye, so next week one estimate gets compared against another estimate.

A bar loses 20–30% of its liquid stock between delivery and the till. A fifth of that is not theft and not overpouring — it is simply not knowing what is left.

On €12,000 of stock, a count is off by

That gap goes straight into your pour cost — and it grows with every count.

Shrinkage and accuracy ranges are industry averages for bar stock.

What Invento Bar does

It works out what is left from weight, not from a guess.

The bartender scans the barcode with the phone camera and puts the bottle on a kitchen Bluetooth scale. The weight arrives over Bluetooth — nothing is typed in. Invento Bar subtracts the empty bottle and the pourer, divides by the density of that particular drink, and shows what is left in millilitres and per cent. Sealed bottles are never weighed — they are counted as units in the same line.

3 Close the count, read the numbers

The difference between two counts is your real consumption, line by line. Compare it with what the till sold and the gap is right there.

Then it repeats. Scan, weigh, confirm — about 18 seconds a bottle, so a bar with 100 bottles takes around half an hour once the catalogue is in place. The first count is slower: that is when the catalogue gets built.

Screens show sample data.

Three things that make the arithmetic hold

Weighing a bottle is easy. Getting a number you can defend in front of your staff is where products fall over.

Density belongs to the drink, not the category

Tools that store one density per category get cream liqueurs wrong. A “liqueurs” default of 1.06 against Kahlúa’s real 1.15 makes the app read empty on a bottle that is not empty.

1.06 assumed · 1.15 actual · 8% error

Your own tare weight, without breaking anyone else’s

Glass drifts by tens of grams between batches. Weigh one empty bottle of yours and your bar uses that figure. The shared catalogue stays untouched for everybody else.

Shared 512 g → your bar 528 g

Last month’s count never changes

Every line freezes the volume, tare and density it was measured with. Correct a catalogue entry today and your March figures stay exactly as they were.

Edit the catalogue, history holds

What else comes with it

Consumption between counts

Each count is a snapshot. The difference between two is what actually left the shelf, in millilitres.

CSV and Google Sheets

Export for your accountant, or sync a count straight into a spreadsheet your team already lives in.

Pourers are accounted for

Nobody unscrews a pourer to weigh a bottle. Pick it once and its weight comes out of every reading.

Works on the phones you have

Any Chrome browser — Android included, where the best-known competitor still ships iOS only.

Roles that fit a bar

The manager sets up staff, catalogue and reports. A bartender sees a count and a search field — nothing else.

English, Russian, Serbian

Interface in the language your staff actually speak. Hosted in Europe, under EU data rules.

About the scales, honestly

Kitchen scales have no shared Bluetooth standard, so we do not promise “any scale”. We support a specific, growing list of models that you can buy locally for roughly €28 with a warranty — and we tell you which ones before you buy. Manual weight entry is a first-class button, not a fallback hidden in a corner.

Early access

We pay you back for what you add

We are in early access — the full release lands around October 2026, and the drinks catalogue is still being built. You will meet bottles we do not have yet. Add one and the subscription pays you for it, because your measurement makes the catalogue better for every bar after you.

+1 day

For the barcode

A bottle that is not in our catalogue yet: scan it and fill in the name, volume and category.

+2 days

For the two weights

Sealed and full, then empty, rinsed and dried. Those two numbers are what makes every later reading exact.

= 3 days

Per finished position

Ten positions nobody had logged before, and your venue has a free month.

10 × 3 days = 30 days free Weigh ten bottles properly while you are counting anyway, and the next month costs you nothing.

Only bottles anyone can buy in a shop count. House infusions, your own syrups and anything the bar makes itself are not accepted — nobody else can use those measurements.

What you get out of it

  • You know your real consumption per bottle, per week — and can put it next to what the till sold.
  • Pour cost becomes a calculated number instead of an argument.
  • Stocktaking stops eating half a shift, and the person doing it stops arguing with the result.
  • Nobody buys an “implementation package”. You need a phone, a €28 scale, and half an hour.
  • Join during early access and the first month is free — plus whatever you earn by filling in the catalogue.
